Happy Thanksgiving
I looked forward to this day with much anticipation largely because of these 3 things:
1) We got to host!! Our first time and it was fabulous! Much less stressful than I thought it would be.
2) Family: John's dad came from Idaho (he was helping John's sister move to Pennsylvania) AND my cousin Nicole, her hubby Devin and little girl Brynlee came from Pittsburgh. Devin's sister (Annie) is in our ward here in Durham so her and her husband come over as well. It was a huge ole party and so much fun.
3) Sugar: November 1st, I decided to go off sugar until Thanksgiving day. So, after nearly 1 month of no sugar... I was so excited for a large piece of pumpkin pie!
art project made possible by: nature, jack, mommy, and a little tape
Devin Gneighting, Eric Pelfrey, Taylor Warner, John Gochnour, Jonathan Hill, Daniel Brown
The proud fans! Watching their daddy's and eating spinach artichoke dip... what could be better?

Jack helping mommy stuff the apple, carrots and onion into our 14lb. beautifully brined turkey
spinach artichoke dip, fruit platter with yummy dip, blue cheese and sharp cheddar cheese ball, cranberry/jalapeno salsa, and last but not least our veggie tray turkey named Gilbert!
Jack attempting to "carve" the turkey with his plastic knife... good luck with that kid!
But then Daddy stepped in with the ELECTRIC KNIFE... cooooool...
John LOVES the dark meat
I think most of our company enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner... except Jonah! He's not a huge fan of "solid" food. Introduced to him for the 2nd time.
Jack giving sweet kisses to Brynlee...his second cousin (or is it first cousin once removed??)
We got together with some of out neighbors for dessert!
Jonah helping us choose the best deals. We went to Comp USA but all GPS's were gone so we literally ran over to Radio Shack. Next stop Kohls then drove into the Walmart parking lot and quickly turned around. That place was NUTS.
For breakfast we picked up some beignet (sugary, scone like donuts) at a French restaurant here in Durham and they were YUMMY!!
Then we hung out with John's dad for a while. Went for a ride in his BIG pickup truck, opened an early bday present from Baba and Diedo (Gma and Gpa in Bulgarian) then said goodbye.
Jack enjoying his new train and Jonah crawling as fast as he can to catch up!

Taking after his daddy
Later that afternoon we went to see New Moon!!!!! Still extremely cheesy but I actually liked it... a LOT! MUCH better than Twilight (probably cuz I like Jacob so much!)
Melanie (and Jonah), Lauri Leslie, Natalie Pelfrey (and Libby), Melissa Winder (and Hannah), Loralee Warner (pregnany with baby girl).
I LOVE cheesecake and I LOVE pumpkin and I LOVE new recipes. So I decided to try Paula Deen's Pumpkin Cheesecake. It was beautiful, perfectly cooked, made the house smell so yummy... We got together with our neighbors for dessert later that night and after everyone told me how yummy my cheesecake tasted, I was excited to take the remains home. I of course didn't have any because I knew there would be left overs (you should have seen the dessert table). With Jonah in one arm I thought I could carry this home in my other arm... bad idea. As I picked it up from the table, the entire thing slid off my beautiful crystal cake platter, rolled down my leg and splattered all over Loralee's carpet... I'm so sorry!!) I was SO sad (to say the least). This is what I caught in my hand as the rest of it fell to the ground. So thankfully got to lick my fingers during clean up and I must say, it was pretty good! Thank you Paula Deen for a wonderful recipe. We'll see you again next year.
BLACK FRIDAY
I have NEVER wanted to participate in black friday... until I became a mom!! John and I set our alarm for 4:30AM in much anticipation. Since John's dad was here we left the boys sleeping and went seeking for our 4.3inch Garmin 255 GPS and a few other things for the boys :-) We got everything we set out for... and more!!
I went and took a nap and woke up to this! John LOVES putting up Christmas decorations and I love looking at them :-) We make a great team.
Love you Nicole!! Until next time...
