Happy Mothers Day!

I woke up to two very handsome boys kissing my face! Sweet John offered to get Jack out of bed so I could "close my eyes" for a few more minutes, but once I hear my little boy talking to himself in the monitor, I am too excited to go back to bed. I (usually) LOVE to get him out of bed :-) Jack crawled into bed and gave me a nice wet kiss and handed me a lovely Mothers Day card. (John wrote a very sweet note!) We just talked and snuggled in bed all together!! I love my boys. A little later that morning we had to say good bye to our wonderful friends, the Stewarts. They graduated from Law school this weekend and are headed to Houston for a big kid job! Good luck you guys. We had a great day. We ate yummy quiche for breakfast, watched our wedding video (a little late anniversary celebrating). Jack could not take his eyes off of the video. He kept pointing and saying, "momma" and "daiyyy" (daddy). We then had a wonderful time at church, did a little visiting teaching and had our friends Jimmy and his fiance Allison over for dinner. (Jimmy is a friend from Law School). Overall... relaxing and fun. Although I've celebrated mothers day 3 times, (1-pregnant, 2-in Europe, 3- Durham, NC) it seemed a little more real this time. I was talking my friend's mom Saturday night and I said, "Well, have a good mothers day tomorrow" and she said, "you too!" It took me a second to realize she really was actually talking to me. I thought, "I'm not old enough to celebrate mothers day. That's just a holiday for old ladies in our ward and I'm suppose to walk around and hand them a carnation flower or candy bar" But NO! I was the one standing up in church to get my "Mother's Day treat!" It was definitely a day of reflection and realization! I love being a mom, but who wouldn't love it when you get to look at this face all day? He got all dressed up for mother's day! Suspenders, tie... the works :-)

Well, there's my little boy! Keeping my life exciting and filling my days with kisses, laughs, and wonderful memories. Sometimes I still have to splash cold water on my face and say, "am I really a mom?" I don't feel old enough to me a mom! I always hoped this day would come and I very much looked forward to it. I would see my sisters with kids, and think "I can't believe I'm really going to have a kid of my own someday"... but then I look at this little face and can't imagine my life without him! I love you Jackers.

It is weird to think that Mother's day is not only for your mom but for you too. It is wonderful to be a mom and to have these beautiful children in our lives.

Melanie! I'm sorry, but Jack looks like SCOTTY in that picture! The suspenders and green chair and cheesy grin made me LAUGH!!! Oh, he is so cute. I can't believe how beautiful he was as a baby but somehow gets more beautiful as he grows...so sweet. Yes, yes, happy mothers day. We got un-potted plants and cookie cutters after Sacrament...Hemphill, Hemphill, Hemphill!

OF COURSE you didn't mention that you happened to CLEAN half of my house, throw away all my junk, and keep me sane during our move on Mother's Day :) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. You are truly an AMAZING mother and friend.

Hi Melanie,
It's good to see you guys on a blog. I just happened upon all of you and your sisters blogs and it is so fun to see what you all are up to. Do you love North Carolina? We have some friends here that are HUGE Duke fans. Your little Jack is probably one of the cutest little boys I've ever seen! ADORABLE!
