Since Hawaii is 3 hours earlier than AZ, we woke up every morning with plenty of time to watch the sunrise, and still got to "sleep in" until 9am (6am Haywain time). This is the view from our balcony of our hotel room.
Turn right on our balcony and this is what you'll see at 6:17am...

looking straight ahead when standing on our balcony. Our resort had a pretty sweet set up! 3 pools, 2 hot tubs, volleyball...

We weren't scheduled to pick up our rental car until 5pm, so we just hung out at the pool all day. It was the best "relaxing day" we had the whole week. Once we got our car, there was too much to see... we couldn't sit still!! So, we're really glad we had this day.

We ordered pool side lunch from the "Bar/Grill". Once we swallowed the price we were able to completely enjoy our burger and fries... the best I've had in a LONG time.

We we ever did glance up from our books, this is what we saw when sitting on our lawn chairs.

We picked up our rental car and went grocery shopping. Yes, there is a Super Wal-Mart on the island in case you were wondering.

The famous "Spouting Horn".
"The Legend of the Spouting Horn is about a lizard family, consisting of a brother and two sisters. When the mo’o (lizard) learned that his sister had died, he was blinded with tears and accidentally swam into the hole and was trapped forever. The geyser sound is supposed to the crying of this giant sea lizard.
The Spouting Horn is a lava tube, which forces salty surf water through an old volcanic lava tube and up to 50 feet in the air. The result is a majestic geyser like spray, causing strange groaning sounds."

We tried to see the sunset that night, but since we were on the southern most part of the island, this is as good as it got! We drove as far west as the one main road would take us, hopped out of the car and climbed to the top of the highest place we could find... a hill on a future golf course.

We gave up and drove to Poi-Pu beach and walked out on some lava rocks.
Day #2... not too shabby!!!
