Myrtle Beach

Husband leaves to Alaska for 10 days... Wife is 37 weeks pregnant and HATES being by herself at night time... Two year old is active as ever... Friends say, "Let's go to the beach"... I say, "Heck YES!!"
So, it's off season at Mytrle Beach this time of year and hotel rooms were SUPER cheap. So the Mills, the Spiers, and Jack and I decided to up and go to the beach for a few days. We left Tuesday morning, stayed Tues and Wed night then drove home Thursday. We had such a fun time. It helped the time pass so quickly, I hardly knew John was gone for 10 days! (Ya right, I missed him like crazy but it did help a ton.)
As soon as we checked into the hotel the kids were begging to put on their swimsuits. They saw the pool and went nuts!
After 4 hours in the car, then 4 hours in the pool Jack didn't get a nap our first day there. We drove, swam, ate dinner, bathed kids, and put on a movie. By 6pm Jack was wasted! He was falling asleep big time. Of course if I let him go to sleep at 6pm, that only means trouble the next day with schedules and tired kids. So, I am such a mean mom... I made him stand up to watch the movie, and he was STILL falling asleep. Poor kid, he does not do well when he doesn't get a nap. He likes sleep as much as his mommy does... and that's A LOT :-)
The next day was nice and sunny so we took advantage of being at the beach. Although the water was WAY too cold to get in, the kids had a blast at playing the the sand and chasing the birds.
The Spiers Family
(Ryan, Addison, and Megan) I love candid shots :-)

Yep... the only picture you're getting of me on the beach trip. Here I am in all my glory at 37 weeks pregnant. I do have a very cute maternity tankini but at this point in my pregnancy I don't feel like anything is picture worthy! Especially when you're as huge as I am! Thank goodness Megan had this AWESOME shade/swimsuit cover I wore under my suit and it totally saved me (and covered my entire belly). Thanks Meg :-)

Jack was having a "freak out moment". He was yelling and hitting the girls (Hailey and Addison) and was being very possessive of all the beach toys... over all cranky. Given, he didn't have a nap the day before and he hasn't seen his daddy for a few days. He knew something wasn't right in his world and he was taking it all out on everyone around him. So when everyone decided to go back to the hotel and start dinner prep, I decided to stay at the beach and have a little one on one time with him. He needed about 15 minutes of mommy time and he went from trouble, terror child to happy, pleasant boy!

Fun in the Tub! Getting rid of all that sand.

I love this is a picture of sweet Addison Spiers after Jack and Hailey each poured cups of water on her head. She is the sweetest little girl and puts up with pretty much anything. I'm pretty sure that's why Addy and Jack are the best play mates ever. Between Jack's dominate personality and her easy going sweetness... they do so well together.

This is the indoor water park at our hotel. The kids LOVED it. The pool was 1 foot deep and Jack had no problem getting in and out. When he fell down, it was shallow enough for him to just hop right up. He was the perfect age to do this kiddy water park. He loved it.

Thank goodness for this basketball hoop. It kept his attention for a VERY long time. He's obsessed with Duke basketball so anything that resembles a basketball and hoop, he's all over.

Spiers brought their wii rock band and of course we had a blast rockin out in the hotel room. Good thing the Mills were our neighbors. Here we have Megan the multi tasker! Singing and playing at the same time?!? Doesn't get much better than this.

The Mills broke a sweat playing a little tennis! Baby Blake sure enjoyed himself!

Livin the high life the car ride home! Jack and Addy BFF. I wish I could have gotten Ryan squished in the back seat. On the way there he sat in the middle of these two little munchkins. You're such a trooper, Ryan. Megan and I sure enjoyed great conversation in the front!
Overall, great hotel, beautiful weather, fabulous vacation, and wonderful friends. I hate being by myself so it was a great way to break up the 10 days.
