Jonah's #1 Birthday

March 31, 2009 Jonah Ray Gochnour joined our family

March 31, 2010 We celebrated his first birthday :-)
We started the day by going on a "birthday bike ride"... but we went without the birthday boy!! For 2 reasons 1) we borrowed the bikes from friends and the bike with the other "baby seat" was too long for my legs. And a bike that doesn't fit, could cause potential accidents and I wasnt' about to risk that with a baby on the back AND 2) He was begging to go down for a nap, so we let him sleep. We put him down at our neighbor's house and went on a ride with Hailey. John, Jack and Hailey on the beautiful tobacco trail. It's a paved trail that starts downtown and goes about 22+ miles through the Durham area. Although we did not bike all 22 miles...we were tired by the end! Nothing compared to the cycling classes I've been going to lately, but still a great workout!!
Jack and Mommy-- He LOVED the bike ride and asks almost every day when we're going on another one.
We rocked that trail :-)
After the bike ride, we headed home for a bday party. We didn't have a huge party, but we did have Jack and Jonah's adopted grandma come over. Lauri Leslie is a dear friend of ours and has been a huge part of our lives the past 2 years of law school. (Jonah slept at her house while we went on our bike ride!) The boys LOVE her!
Jonah didn't quite know what to do with the presents, but he was so stinkin cute.
Jack was of course a HUGE helper
Thank you Baba Gochnour for the fun new clothes.
Family tradition is to do a big spagetti dinner for the first birthday. Hailey and John both had things that evening, so we did a spagetti lunch. The weather was perfect so we did it outside.
Then came the cake. We have a grocery store here (Harris Teeter) that does free cake for their 1st birthday. Can't argue with that :-) Jonah liked it... as you can tell
playing with his brother!
mommy loves this birthday boy
When Jack turned 1, his hair went straight. When Jonah turned 1, his hair went curley. Still nothing like his daddy's but we can hope it's somewhere in the future for our children! Yes, I know it's time for a hair cut...
All tuckered out. This one year old has had a very busy day!! Happy birthday sweet boy, we love you :-)

I love this tribute post! I want to EAT Jonah...have I ever said that before? Especially in that last picture: I figured out what he looks like: one of those big-smiley animals on Snow White--with the jolly front teeth and round cheeks? His two front teeth are killer! I love his birthday mess pictures Mel. One year olds are SOOOOO fun! Can't wait to love my boy whenever I look at your pictures!
